Release date
GTA 6 is confirmed for November 19, 2026 on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S.
This date was announced by Rockstar Games and Take-Two Interactive after an earlier target of Fall 2025 was pushed back. It is the only date currently on the record.
Platforms
GTA 6 launches exclusively on:
- PlayStation 5
- Xbox Series X/S
PC is not confirmed for the launch window. Based on Rockstar's history with GTA 5, a PC version is expected — but no date or official announcement exists. Industry estimates suggest 2027 or 2028 at the earliest.
Setting — Leonida
GTA 6 takes place in Leonida, a fictional state inspired by Florida.
The map includes a version of Vice City — the Miami-inspired location from GTA: Vice City (2002) — along with surrounding areas including the Everglades-style wetlands visible in the trailer.
Leonida is confirmed to be larger than the GTA 5 map, though exact dimensions have not been officially released.
Protagonists
Two playable protagonists:
- Jason — male lead
- Lucia — female lead, the first playable woman in a mainline GTA game
Both characters appear throughout the first trailer. Their full backstories have not been officially detailed.
GTA 6 Online
GTA 6 Online is confirmed and will be integrated into the base game, unlike GTA Online which required a separate purchase for some players.
